Black, slim car

LCT GmbH was founded in 2020 as a spin-off of a project started by the engineering faculty of the University of Bayreuth (Germany). Our passion is the development and manufacture of future-oriented, fiber-reinforced materials. Composite materials have outstanding properties such as low specific weight, high-strength and high stiffness. Fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites (CMC) also have extremely high wear resistance in combination with temperature stability and damage tolerance.
At LCT we offer not only a high-end CMC product, but also offer expert consultation services to help you with product design and product development.

Grant decision received from the European Patent Office

On March 25, 2025, the “Process for the production of friction units” (EP4368852B1) developed by Dr.-Ing. Tom Liensdorf (CEO of LCT GmbH) was patented by the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich. With this, the process is protected by patent law in 39 contracting states - including all 27 member states of the European Union. The patent holder is Rebrake GmbH (rebrake.de), which uses the process for its global reconditioning service for carbon-ceramic brake discs.

New rotary table grinding machine put into operation at the Bayreuth production site

In May 2025, a modern rotary table grinding machine (Z 500R) from Ziersch was successfully put into operation. The grinding and finishing of the brake discs is the final production step in the refurbishment process and is a decisive factor in the quality of the reconditioned brake discs. The machining of the extremely hard SiSiC friction layers is particularly demanding and we are proud to have the necessary expertise in this process. With the new rotary table grinding machine, twice as many brake discs as before can now be ground to the highest quality standards at the Bayreuth site.
